Welcome to our revival of the World Barefoot Council newsletter.
First, we need to offer our congratulations to a number of our barefoot water skiers.
IWWF Hall of Fame inductees
George “Banana” Blair USA and Brett Sands AUS. Both of these individuals will be inducted at the Junior, U23 and Open IWWF World Barefoot Waterskiing Championships held in Auburndale Florida starting on October 17, 2026.
IWWF Barefoot Athletes of the Year
Terri Larson Jones and Luke Van Den Heuvel. Both individuals have made their mark in our sport. Most recently, they both excelled at the 2025 Masters in France.
Newest World Record Holders
Peter McClung set a new record in Men’s 4 tricks and Fred Groen set a new Men’s 4 wake slalom record.
By now, you all should be aware of the new wake slalom scoring. It has been implemented as of September 15, 2025. It seems to be working well but there are FAQs being posted on the World Council Website.
All barefoot water skiers are encouraged to check out the World Barefoot Council Website for information regarding World Championships, rules, records, awards and history.
