IWWF Athelte's of the Year Announced!
January 15, 2013

Every year the International Water Ski and Wakeboard Federation selects one female and one male athlete from across all diciplines as the Overall IWWF Athlete of the Year.

It is with great pleasure that I announce for the first time ever a female barefoot water skier has been honored with this achievement.

Through years of relentless persistence and dedication Ashleigh Stebbeings (AUS) has risen to the top of all athletes in boat and cable towed watersports. This achievement in 2012 was marked by setting two World trick records,5050 and 7100 (besting the previous record by 2700 points!) and by capturing 4 gold medals at the World Championships while brining the Australian Team 3000 overall points.

This award is based on individual accomplishments alone. However, it should be noted that the Australian Team fully counted on Ashliegh's high performance every time she took to the water in order to take back the Gold Medal of Team Overall. A victory the Australians have been pursuing for the past 27 years.

On behalf of our entire barefoot family around the world I congratulate Ashleigh Stebbeings on earning this title.
